UX Designer (Wholesale)

We are looking for a talented and dedicated individual to join our wholesale business, focusing on our digital transformation. Delivering creative solutions across the automotive lifecycle, the team works collaboratively with key business customers, IT and development colleagues and the wider Cox Automotive Group.

As a member of the team you will contribute to the delivery of leading-edge solutions in an interesting and engaging environment.

Role:

Cox Automotive are going through a digital transformation, designing and developing for the future UK market. As a UX Designer you will join a Product team who are leading the digital transformation and be accountable for providing research, design and insight necessary to continuously improve our suite of products.

We seek a dynamic individual with a pronounced interest in design and specialised knowledge in working with design systems, e.g., Figma and has experience with Front-End & Native app development.

The successful candidate will help solve challenging problems and create first class user experiences. Leveraging previous experience, they will play a pivotal role in delivering best-in-class products through innovative design approaches.

By managing and maintaining design coherence across platforms, this role will significantly enhance our product performance. The UX Designer will not only create visually engaging designs but also work closely with our customers to understand their needs and then create seamless user journeys and designs, working closely with the product and engineering teams.

Through a collaboration between design and development, translating the design into functional interfaces, Cox Automotive aims to further strengthen its market position, setting new standards for excellence and innovation in the automotive industry.

Skills / Experience:

Technical Skills

  • Understanding how to structure content and design navigational systems to help users find what they're looking for. Ability to present complex data in an understandable and visually appealing manner.
  • Applying design thinking methodologies to solve complex problems creatively.
  • Mastery in Figma, and similar tools for creating wireframes and interactive prototypes, ensuring high fidelity and alignment with existing style guides.
  • Ability to design interfaces that work across different devices, including mobile phones, tablets, and desktops.
  • Ensuring that designs are cross browser compatible and perform consistently across different web browsers.
  • Possesses skills to design for iOS, Android, or other mobile platforms, including understanding platform-specific guidelines.
  • Understanding of front-end coding languages such as HTML, CSS & JavaScript.
  • Understanding of the principles of User Centred Design to create interfaces aligned with user needs and expectations.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and how to design for different abilities, adhering to WCAG guidelines, etc.
  • Good understanding of product and website performance metrics and KPIs.
  • Ability to conduct and analyse usability tests to validate design choices and improve usability.
  • Strong understanding of the principles of typography and colour theory to create visually appealing designs.
  • Peer review work and provide constructive and detailed feedback.

  • Ability to work independently and remotely, keeping stakeholders engaged along the way.
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to logically analyse requirements, processes and systems.
  • Strong communication skills, fluency in English.

  • Owns individual training goals and structures work to meet these, proactively engaging colleagues as needed for support.

Typical Training/Experience

  • Requires combination of education and work-related experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role and demonstrable skills of application design within your portfolio.
