Who We Are

Teal Media is a full-service creative and design agency with a conscience. We believe purposeful design can transform organizations, inspire action, and enable progress. Our clients and nonprofit partners commit their lives to creating positive social change. We pour every ounce of our passion and skill into their success, because we, too, want the world to be a better place. We offer a variety of strategic, creative, and technical services, including brand strategy, web design and development, and creative support.

We are a woman-owned and woman-led firm with a diverse staff. At Teal Media, we value our people above all else and choose to work with partners and clients who share those beliefs.

Position Overview

The designer executes on deliverables set forth by senior Creative team members and clients, bringing their unique and fresh perspectives to projects. They collaborate closely with project team members in order to have a confident approach to their designs. Through participation in learning sessions in order to create intentional designs, they strategically implement feedback, and deliver work on time and on budget while juggling multiple priorities.

Your Team

This role is under the Creative team. The Designer will report to the Art Director.

Capacities

Capacities describe the knowledge, skills, and abilities that we ask all members of our organization to demonstrate in their respective roles. They comprise three main categories: organizational capacities expected of all members, management capacities expected of each member in a management position, and departmental capacities expected of members in their specific positions. In addition, successfully performing your role within your specific team requires certain departmental capacities illustrated through the following skills and competencies:

Departmental capacities:

  • Collaborative Team Orientation: You are collaborative and ready to help other people, even if it's not in your field of expertise. You share resources, inspiration, and ideas. You are considerate of people's time and help create systems that are flexible, ensure better outcomes, and support everyone to do their best possible work together. You are willing to jump into casual and lively coworking with clients and colleagues when needed. You are ready to help and support your colleagues and reach out for help when you need it. • Detail Orientation: You take a thorough approach and display concern for all aspects involved in the design, no matter how small, to infuse delight and excitement into the user experience. You create high-quality work with subtle touches that make a design unique, interesting, and ownable to the client. You know how to use details, such as animation, to gently guide a user, providing cues that help people explore and quickly access the information they need. You understand how the details add up to the whole design, and how to find and accentuate our clients' differentiators to produce a unique and interesting design that's tailored to each client's needs.
  • Purposeful Design: You seek to understand our clients, their work, and how they do that work. You are creative and thoughtful in the solutions you design because you care about their audiences and users. You design beautiful and useful solutions for our clients and partners, knowing when to push design because you understand the purpose behind it. You can create a fresh, modern, and innovative take on a client's brand, while still being practical, unpretentious, and acceptable to stakeholders who will need to buy into the design.
