Job Summary

The VP Accounting will serve as a key member of the leadership team and will manage the overall operations of accounting for the company. This position reports directly to the CFO. This role will oversee the accounting operations including all transaction processing, order to cash business systems, revenue accounting, general ledger, internal controls, and any other financial accounting compliance requirements. In this role you will be responsible for continuously introducing process improvements and introducing best practices to the Nextech accounting and finance department. This is a high-visibility role that requires a heightened level of availability. The VP Accounting must be extremely detail and deadline oriented and have exceptional internal and external communication skills. This position will interact with all levels of management, including the C-Suite. Your organization includes a staff of fifteen.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee the Controller in maintaining the general ledger and all of the Company’s financial books and records.
  • Lead Revenue Accounting and partner with Revenue Operations and be a thought leader on maximizing Order to Cash automation including integration of leading payment portals resulting in industry leading DSO metrics.
  • Drive the team to identify, implement and oversee the execution of necessary financial processes, policies, procedures and controls to ensure compliance with US GAAP and all applicable tax laws.
  • Oversee and drive all monthly, quarterly and annual closing/consolidation processes and ensure that all financial statements and reporting are timely, accurate, and in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Primary contributor to budget and re-forecast process (including cash and balance sheet).
  • Prepare monthly internal financial operating reports and variance analysis for review with VP, Financial Planning & Analysis, department heads and the CFO.
  • Responsible for hiring and training new team members and growing the team according to the needs of the Company.
  • Responsible for developing team members and providing professional guidance and coaching to ensure proper succession planning.
  • Responsible for the oversight and integration of changes in processes, products and product pricing into the accounting systems and accounting cycle.  
  • Serves as the primary focal point for the development and integration of accounting controls, new and improved systems, and new accounting processes and procedures. This includes researching new technologies and accounting systems and implementing them to ensure that the Company has the proper financial infrastructure in place to streamline operations and facilitate growth.
  • Serves as the focal point for integrating new acquisitions into the accounting process.   
  • Responsible for preparation and management of the Audit Committee Meetings
  • Assists the CFO and CEO with any other projects as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Successful track record as a VP of Accounting or equivalent
  • 15 years of accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Net Suite expertise
  • Experience with Quote to Cash optimization 
  • CPA, Public accounting experience in an audit capacity
  • Successful experience as a people leader that coaches and develops their team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a private equity owned business
  • SaaS industry experience
  • Net Suite, Paystand and Salesforce.com experience
  • Master of Accounting or MBA
