Role summary
Finite State is seeking a Vice President of Engineering with a deep expertise in cybersecurity and a proven track record in building scalable enterprise SaaS products. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with large datasets, complex data pipelines, full stack SaaS product delivery, and a history of leading distributed onshore and offshore engineering teams. As a key member of our executive team, you will drive the engineering vision and lead the development of our products, ensuring both high-quality outputs and rapid delivery.

As the VP of Engineering, you will:
- Lead the engineering team through the architecture, development, deployment, and operations of secure and scalable enterprise SaaS solutions.
- Manage, mentor, and scale a diverse and talented engineering team across multiple geographical locations.
- Foster a high-performance engineering culture that values hard work, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Promote a psychologically safe workplace that supports professional development and growth.
- Collaborate closely with product management, sales, and customer support teams to align engineering outputs with company goals, customer needs, and expectations.
- Drive innovation and stay ahead of the industry trends to keep the company at the cutting edge of technology.
- Ensure the work product of the engineering team is high-quality, delivered on time, and within budget.
- Lead the prioritization of engineering tasks to maximize customer value and orchestration of feature delivery.
- Own and execute the engineering hiring process, ensuring a strong and capable team is in place to deliver high-quality work.
What we’re looking for:
- 10+ years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within a tech company.
- Strong background in cybersecurity, specifically in building secure enterprise-level SaaS applications.
- Expertise in designing and managing large datasets and sophisticated data processing pipelines.
- Demonstrated experience managing both onshore and offshore engineering teams.
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality software products with velocity.
- Experience in fostering a tight-knit engineering culture that promotes hard work, accountability, and psychological safety.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
It’s a plus if you also have:
- Application security or product security experience
- Experience with vulnerability management, SBOM management, or binary/program analysis
- Experience with Generative AI and LLMs, especially with respect to applying them to application security and vulnerability management problems
- Experience in our tech stack, which includes: AWS, Kubernetes, ArangoDB (or other multimodal / graph databases), Python, React, Typescript, Javascript, GraphQL
