VP of Finance
Who We Are
Greetings, friend! We’re Second Dinner, a game studio jam-packed with people that make award-winning, MEGA hits. Oof, maybe that’s not humble enough. But we did win a bunch of awards! We’re continuing to thoughtfully grow our business of making awesome games. As part of that mission, we’re building a top-tier finance team. That team needs a leader, which is why we wrote this up.
We’re a diverse studio and varied perspectives are absurdly valuable. If you bring something new to the table and expand our point of view, that's a huge upside. It’s OK if you haven’t worked in the game industry before. We’re fully remote, too, so uhhh there is nothing stopping you from applying.
Your Role:
As Second Dinner grows, we need someone to own forecasting, budgeting, financial policies, and reporting. We’re also looking for additional support in dealmaking and strategy. We’re looking for someone with deep FP&A experience and demonstrated ability to navigate the ambiguity and nimbleness of a creative, fast-moving team. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and will assume leadership over our existing Accounting team. We strive to run lean, so this will be a very-hands on role, but there’s room for additional folks if needed.
We get it, that’s asking a LOT. Don’t worry, this role will be surrounded by a supportive team that’s eager to continue to learn and improve together. Come help us make Second Dinner more awesome!
What You’ll Do:
- Lead and grow a best-in-class finance and accounting team
- Create, institute, and lead scalable forecasting and budgeting processes that help us think rigorously and plan appropriately, but that don’t require an endless cavalcade of Powerpoint decks
- Deliver accurate and timely reporting to key stakeholders
- Support executives and senior leaders by driving ad-hoc analyses and strategic initiatives
- Drive business development with financial analysis, modeling, and market research
- Partner with business units to analyze financial performance and drive appropriate change
- Implement scalable internal controls to ensure wise stewardship as the company grows
What You’ll Need:
- Extensive experience in financial planning and analysis, and a passion for FP&A
- Mastery at delivering, bridging, and flexing across multiple simultaneous reporting needs: internal decision makers, investors, and partners; GAAP, operational, and tax accounting; three-statement, tailored, and ad-hoc financials
- Strong track record as a leader, both as a people manager and with cross-functional teams
- Talent for bringing discipline and rigor into financial decision-making in thoughtful ways
- Demonstrated ability and passion for rolling up your sleeves and getting in the details
- Excitement for working in a context where many decisions are equal parts art + science
Nice to Have, But Not Necessary (So Don’t Let It Stop You):
- Love of games (particularly mobile games)
- Experience working at a company in the games industry
- Experience as a finance leader in a startup context (e.g., cash flow management, capitalization tables, compensation philosophy and design)
- Experience in fundraising, M&A, or investor relations
- Experience evaluating, negotiating, and executing deals
- Experience working with international partners
- Experience working on a tiny team
HEY! Go apply already. What’s the worst that could happen? If we reject your application you can just be like “ah I didn’t want that job anyway” and then we both move on with our lives
