Profitable B2B SaaS company, teams are based out of North America, but this role is remote from Canada. We're only open to folks that don't require relocation (ideally in the GTA/Toronto area) and are eligible to work in Canada :)

About You

We are looking for an experienced and visionary Vice President of Engineering to lead and drive our engineering teams towards achieving strategic goals. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the entire engineering function and will play a key role in shaping and executing the company's technology roadmap.

You'll be reporting to and working closely with our CTO.

Example Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Strategy:
  2. Develop and execute the engineering strategy aligned with the overall business goals.
  3. Provide leadership to multiple engineering teams and foster a collaborative and innovative culture.
  4. Drive technology innovation and ensure the development of scalable and high-performance software solutions.
  5. Product Development:
  6. Oversee the end-to-end product development lifecycle, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
  7. Collaborate with product management to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  8. Implement best practices for software development, coding standards, and quality assurance.
  9. Technical Operations:
  10. Manage technical operations to ensure the reliability and scalability of systems.
  11. Implement and optimize infrastructure, security, and DevOps practices.
  12. Establish and maintain effective processes for monitoring, incident response, and system maintenance.
  13. Team Development and Management:
  14. Attract, hire, and retain top engineering talent.
  15. Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  16. Provide mentorship and leadership to engineering managers and team members.
  17. Collaboration:
  18. Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments, such as product management, sales, and marketing.
  19. Work closely with executives to align engineering strategies with overall company objectives.

Qualifications:

  1. Experience:
  2. Proven experience (5+ years) in a senior engineering leadership role, preferably as a Director or VP of Engineering.
  3. Demonstrated success in leading and scaling engineering teams (ideally 25+ staff) in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Experience building or scaling a startup/tech company in the past (experience working in a company 50-500 headcount is ideal)
  5. Technical Skills:
  6. Strong technical background with expertise in software development and architecture. Our Tech stack is: Python, Flask, React, Typescript, AWS.
  7. Familiarity with modern development languages, frameworks, and technologies.
  8. Leadership and Management:
  9. Excellent leadership and team management skills. (owning areas like career progression, employee feedback & coaching)
  10. Track record of building and leading high-performance engineering teams. (ex. building key metrics we can track to improve areas of the business)
  11. Strategic Thinking:
  12. Ability to develop and execute a strategic vision for engineering aligned with business goals. (ex. work with our CTO to deliver on key projects)
  13. Experience in aligning technical decisions with long-term business objectives.
  14. Communication:
  15. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. (ex. ability to manage up and down)
  16. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  17. Problem Solving:
  18. Proven ability to analyze and solve complex technical challenges. (ex. help teams solve architecture decisions)
  19. Have a bias towards action, we're about 100 headcount in size. We're looking for a leader that takes ownership and can push things forward.
