About the team/role
As the VP, Talent Acquisition, you will be responsible for guiding and scaling the team, driving our global recruiting strategy, and setting the vision for the future. Operating as a trusted advisor and recruiting expert to Checkr leaders, you will advise, optimize and iterate on existing processes to enable all hiring teams to be successful.
Reporting to the Chief People Officer and as a key member of the People leadership team, you will lead the function with analytical rigor, a dedication to amazing candidate experiences, inclusive hiring practices, and continue to build for scale.
What you’ll do
- Continuously improve the recruiting function that earns the broad trust of internal stakeholders and provides an outstanding candidate experience
- A desire to build, work backwards from desired outcomes, and create a Talent Acquisition strategy and roadmap that scales with the growth of the business
- Challenge the status quo on practices, policies, recruiter productivity, recruiting philosophy, and tooling
- Embrace a candidate and employee-centric mindset balanced with the need to make appropriately frugal decisions
- Make, as a default, data based decisions
- Take a fresh look and develop internship, apprenticeship, and scholar programs
- Provide a full suite of recruiting metrics within the organizational health scorecard
- Own executive recruiting
- Look around the corner to anticipate and solve issues before they become problems
- Be an outstanding people manager of managers, mentor and develop managers and ICs
- Be a trusted advisor to Checkr’s senior most leaders (CEO and direct report team)
- Elevate Checkr’s employment brand in the market, both domestically and abroad
What you bring
- Deep experience building and leading high performing recruiting teams
- Strong understanding of the recruiting landscape across both tech and business roles
- Analytical mindset
- An active interest in Diversity & Inclusion
- Public company experience
- Continual awareness of industry best practices, emerging trends, and ability to gather benchmarking data
- Demonstrated project management skills and a track record of success in bringing complex, cross-functional projects to successful completion
- Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Pre-IPO company experience is a nice to have

We use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop ranges for our roles and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range. If this role is remote, we have listed the top to the bottom of the possible range, but we will specify the target range for an exact location when you are selected for a recruiting discussion. The base salary range for this role is $291,667 to $339,583.
